The European Union, the African Union and the United Nations met at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 20 September 2026 for the Seventh Trilateral Meeting.

They reaffirmed support for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia and expressed concern about the South Sudan situation.

The three bodies said they were committed to a renewed international approach for Sudan and condemned the continued conflict there.

They also raised concern about the Horn of Africa and Red Sea situation, discussed the Horn of Africa, sustainable development and food security, and pledged support for climate-resilient agriculture.

The statement said they recognised financing constraints in African countries, reaffirmed support for effective multilateralism, and expressed support for United Nations reform.

The meeting ended with an agreement to reconvene in 2027.

Antonio Guterres was identified as the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and Mahmoud Ali Youssouf was identified as Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
