Ásar hf. says the Icelandic Competition Authority has agreed to begin talks on a possible settlement over its purchases of Öryggismiðstöð Íslands hf. and Opnum kerfum hf.
The company said it had already submitted comments on the authority’s statement of objections on 25 September, and at the same time requested settlement talks. The latest update says the authority has now informed Ásar that there are grounds to start those discussions.
For traders following the company, the immediate point is that the review timetable has moved on one of the two transactions. The deadline for the authority to finish its investigation into the purchase of Öryggismiðstöð Íslands has automatically been extended by 15 working days, to 30 October 2026 from 9 October. The deadline for the review of the Opnum kerfum acquisition remains 4 November.
Ásar said it will disclose progress in the matter as and when there is reason to do so, in line with the law.
